People lose their car keys, trust me it happens a lot. You’re
ready to go somewhere and can’t find the damn keys. The frustration is very
real, when you come to the realization that you’ll be late for something. It
makes you wish that there was some way to get rid of keys altogether. Most of
us have faced these problems occasionally.
A solution to this is to get a keyless entry system for your
car. A push button start is a part of this system. Basically a push button
start system makes a traditional key redundant. You don’t have to rummage
around the house to look for car keys. Don’t get me wrong, this does not mean
that there is some invisible sensor that will be embedded in your skin to start
your vehicle. You still have to carry a remote or key fob around with you and
you need it to start your car.
The key fob serves as a remote for your car that will enable
you to unlock the doors and, once you’re inside the vehicle, start the engine.
Most push button start systems will not lock the vehicle’s
doors if the key fob is inside the car. This means that there is no way to lock
your keys inside the car. Read on and how to use the push button start system.
Start the Engine.
Step 1: In case
of an automatic transmission, shift the gears to the ‘Park’ position. Whereas,
for a manual transmission, shift the vehicle into neutral.
Step 2: Put your
foot on the brake pedal and push down.
Step 3: Press the
button labeled ‘Engine Start/Stop’ firmly until the green light turns on. Let
the engine run for 10-20 seconds before driving off.
Turning off the
Engine
Step 1: This is similar
to starting the engine. For a manual transmission, shift the gear lever to
neutral position. For a vehicle with automatic transmission, put the vehicle into
‘Park’.
Step 2: Press the
push button start to turn off the vehicle’s engine. When the green light goes
out, this means that the car engine has been turned off.
How to start the
engine when the key fob runs out of battery
This thing happens and thankfully most push button start
brands have a solution for this. Remove
the key fob from your pocket or handbag and place it over the sensing area,
usually located, on the vehicle’s windshield. Most brands install a passive
sensor chip inside the remote and the car will automatically unlock.
